  • Yes, we do offer group discounts for large groups from one organisation or business. Please contact us at marathon@athletics.org.nz for more information. We can also arrange for businesses to pay for entries via invoice if preferred.

  • Yes there is a time limit for the full marathon. 

    In the Full Marathon competitors need to be at the 23.5km mark (Ramada Resort) by 1:00pm, otherwise there will be a minivan for those that don’t make the cut off and they will be taken to the finish line. Those crossing the finish line after this time will be deemed not to have finished and will not be eligible for the finisher's medal (full marathon only).

    • Survivors Club – 20% 

    • Athletics New Zealand Members – 20% 

    • Students – 15% (with valid ID) 

    • Seniors (aged 65+) – 15% (with valid ID showing proof of age) 

  • Drop off only is available at the main Te Puia entrance. There is carparking available in the southern Te Puia carpark accessible from the Hemo Roundabout.  

    A user pays bus service will be operated from outside the iSite on Fenton Street to Te Puia from 7.00am until 7.45am. The cost is $8.000 and can be purchased with your 10km registration. Is there a minimum entry age for the events? 

    The minimum age for the 5km is 10 years of age. The minimum age for the 10km is 14 years of age. The minimum age for the Half Marathon is 16 years of age and the minimum age for the Marathon is 18 years of age. All ages are taken on the day of the event.

  • Yes, entries can be transferred to another distance up until 9pm (NZ Time) Friday 1 May 2026 . Transfers will incur a $25 (including GST) fee. To transfer your entry, login into your Race Roster portal here, select ‘Transfer’ on the right of the page, then ‘Transfer to a new sub-event’ and follow the steps. Any additional fees (e.g. if you are transferring to a longer distance event) will need to be paid to complete the transfer.

  • Yes, you can transfer your entry to another person, but only within the same sub-event (e.g. half marathon to half marathon). Transfers will incur a $25 (including GST) fee. To transfer your entry, login into your Race Roster portal here, select ‘Transfer’ on the right of the page, then ‘Transfer to a new participant’ and follow the steps. You will be required to pay for the transfer fee and then the new participant will receive an email with a link to complete their registration. 

  • Walkers are welcome in all events and will receive their finishing times and will be separated in the results.
     There will not be any merit awards  for walkers. 

  • Your bib number is allocated when you enter. Your bib number is shown on your confirmation email. 

  • Drinks stations are shown on the course maps for the Full Marathon, NZCT Half Marathon, and 10km. The maps show which drink stations will have water only and those that will have water and electrolyte drink from our Official Hydration Partner, Pure Sports Nutrition. For all events there will be a hydration station at the finish line. 

  • Yes! There will be event merchandise available for pre-order by the end of 2025. Information will be shared on the website, social media and via email when it is available for purchase. 

  • No pets allowed at all times. The only exception is a service dog. 

  • Participants in the Kids Mini Marathon, 5km, 10km, NZCT Half Marathon, and Red Stag Full Marathon distances will receive a finishers medal. 

  • Yes, the Full Marathon and Half Marathon courses are currently certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) in conjunction with World Athletics (WA). 

  • The full marathon only provides for personal drinks. Drink bottles must be delivered to the team at registration before 8:00pm on Friday 1st May. Bottles must be clearly labelled with name, race number and station. 

    Personalised bottles will be the first table at the following stations - No3 9.3km, No6 19.5km, No8 27.8km, No11 37.0km.   

    Bottles will not be returned at the conclusion of the event. Please ensure they can be recycled. 

  • Prams and buggies are not allowed on any of the courses (however spectators are welcome to bring prams/strollers).

  • For the safety and enjoyment of all participants, usage of walking poles is not permitted during any of the events.

  • Yes, you will need to be a competitive member of an affiliated Athletics New Zealand club to enter the New Zealand Masters Marathon Championships.

  • Event pack collection will be held at Novotel Rotorua Lakeside at the dates and times below. You are asked to select the time you plan to collect your event pack during registration. This is to assist the event organisers with planning, however you can attend at any of the times listed below. Someone else can collect your event pack on your behalf if they bring along a copy of your confirmation email. 

    • Friday 1 May – 10am to 9pm 

    • Saturday 2 May – bib pick up only at relevant start lines 

    • Marathon start – Government Gardens (6.30am to 7.45am) 

    • Half Marathon – Whangamarino school (6.30am to 7.30am) – 

    • 12km start – Te Puia (7am to 8.00am) 

    • 5km start – Novotel (7am to 8.05am)  

  • There are no changing rooms available at the Novotel. All competitors should come to the event in the gear they will be running or walking in. 

  • Yes, there will be portaloos located at all the designated aid stations around the event courses. 

  • No, as our traffic management and course management provisions are based on the designated event start times – all competitors must adhere to these start times. 

  • The marathon course will have an enforced road closure from the corner of Unsworth Road and Hamurana Road to State Highway 33 from 8.00am to 11.30am (both lanes) and 11.30am to 1.00pm (west bound lane) All marathon supporters need to adhere to this.
