Thank you all for the great feedback from the Rotorua Marathon held on Saturday 4th May 2013. The event went off with a bang and ran very smoothly with some minor faults here and there. We always look forward to receiving feedback from our competitors and spectators - good or bad - as we are always looking to improving the event and making it a great experience for all involved. Here is a wonderful message from one of our competitors from the weekend.
"On Saturday I did my first-ever marathon, walking the Rotorua Marathon. I just wanted to say 'thanks' for the fantastic organisation around the event. I was so impressed with the marshals on every street corner, many of whom smiled and said encouraging things as the competitors, went past, the buzz at the event centre itself, the efficiency and helpfulness of the registration processes, hearing my name called out as I crossed the finish line etc. It just all felt so professional, and I wanted to share that with you. So thanks to you, and everyone associated with the marathon -you made it such a special event."

Half Marathon Course:
Please Note:
The 2013 Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust Half Marathon course was
unexpectedly run 420 metres long. A late course change requested by the
council was not translated through the Traffic Management team who then inadvertently had the leaders run the dogleg at the top of Vaughan Road when they shouldn't have. We are sorry for this mistake and will ensure that this is corrected in the future. |

Our thoughts go out to all those involved in the Boston Marathon tragedy. We will show our respect by having a minutes silence at the two marathon starts. All competitors are encouraged to wear a black arm band in honour of those affected by this unbelievable incident.
The Rotorua Marathon plastic cups this year are all biodegradable and compostable. We like to be environmental friendly and this is our way of helping out.
