Other Special Prizes
Classic Hits ‘Best Drinks Station’ – Number 9, based at the half way at Hamurana Hill Section.  Congratulations to the volunteers of Western Heights High School, lead by Peter O’Connell. Presented with large gift baskets from New World West End, and a refreshment voucher to the Millennium Hotel.
 
TIMEX ‘Stood the Test of Time’ Awards – presented with a TIMEX Watch
    Rod Swindlehurst – Volunteer of 25 years who owns & fires the cannon at the start. Rod began with one firing, but now has 4 different starts within 15 minutes!
    Ted Sheppard – Volunteer of 40 years, has done tasks ranging from special drinks for runners, cleaning up on Sunday morning, and more recently manning the 30K time clock on the course.
     # 29 ATC Squadron – Volunteer Service group since 1978, the Squadron’s cadets have marshaled on the course, and more recently remove the timing chips at the finish line.
    Verna Cook-Jackson – a participant who first ran in 1980 as a first timer (4:14:24), and was one of only 192 entrants. Verna completed her 30th Rotorua Marathon this year in 4:57:56, making her the woman who has Taken on the Lake the most!

Survivors – All new Survivors (completing their 15th Rotorua Marathon), and all those entering a 5 year milestone (20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and yes, 45 years Colin Smyth) were invited to the Prize Giving stage to have their achievements recognised, and given a voucher from the Polynesian Spa.
